Completion of Rites: 11th September 2011
It was a special time of celebration at St Teresa’s in Coleshill as parishioners filled the Church for Sunday Mass and to witness
the completion of the baptism of the McConville’s twins: Talitha and Alexander on their second birthday. Former Parish Priest Fr Marcus Stock fulfilled his promise and returned to Coleshill to complete the twins’ baptism despite his full workload as General Secretary to the Catholic Bishops Conference in London.
The last two years has been a traumatic time for the McConville family. The twins were both in danger of death having being born
15 weeks premature. Fr Marcus conducted the first part of their baptism in Hospital when they were only six days old as they were both suffering from bleeding on the brain and the future looked bleak.
A seemingly never ending succession of operations and extended periods in hospital has followed, and continues to this day. Mum and Dad Stephanie and Tony even have the dubious honour of becoming the 1000th residents of the new Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham: a superb charity which supports parents whose children are in the Birmingham Children’s Hospital by providing them with free accommodation.
Following the baptism Stephanie and Tony laid on a wonderful buffet in the Parish Centre and had a collection for Ronald
McDonald House which raised £500. To quote Stephanie “Talitha is a little live wire and very comical. Alex has his good days and bad days, but when he smiles everything seems ok with the world”. Our best wishes, prayers and love go with them.
